PREP ROUNDUP : University Rallies to Defeat Tustin in Ninth Inning

Jill Sorenson’s single scored Heather Campbell in the bottom of the ninth inning as University defeated Tustin, 2-1, in a Sea View League softball game Friday.
Shareen Patton (10-2) pitched a two-hitter and struck out seven for University (15-4, 5-1 in league). Campbell walked to lead off the inning, went to second on a wild pitch and was sacrificed to third.
In another Sea View League softball game:
Woodbridge 13, Newport Harbor 1--Stacy Washington (8-1) pitched a five-hitter, striking out five and walking none for visiting Woodbridge (16-6, 6-0). Anne Marie Risquez had four hits and three runs batted in, and Alison Johnsen had three hits and two RBIs for Woodbridge.
In South Coast League softball:
El Toro 12, Dana Hills 0--Misty Lauby (12-7) pitched her ninth shutout, allowing three hits and striking out four at Dana Hills. Debbie Davis went four for five with three RBIs for the Chargers (14-12, 4-2).
Capistrano Valley 3, San Clemente 0--Capistrano Valley scored all three runs in the first inning when Daniela Hugelshofer hit a two-run triple and scored on Jennifer Smith’s single. Smith (6-4) also pitched five innings, allowing one hit and striking out nine. Nikki Thomas had two hits and scored for host Capistrano Valley (9-6, 4-2).
Irvine 2, Mission Viejo 0--Jennifer Brundage (14-1) pitched a one-hitter, her eighth shutout of the year, and struck out 11 at Mission Viejo. Brundage also had a run-scoring triple for Irvine (20-2, 6-0).
In Sunset League softball:
Ocean View 3, Westminster 2--Jena Sansone led off the bottom of the sixth with a single and went to second on a throwing error, went to third on a groundout and scored on Lisa Rousey’s single for Ocean View (11-6, 4-5).
Santa Ana 2, Edison 1 (12 innings)--Dora Martinez started the first inning reaching on an error and went on to score on a two-base throwing error as Santa Ana (4-12, 1-8) won at Edison. Martinez pitched 12 innings, allowing four hits, for the victory. She also scored Santa Ana’s other run in the sixth, reaching on an error and scoring on a triple by Stacy Lumley. Edison is 1-8 in league.
In nonleague softball:
Villa Park 6, Santa Margarita 4--Tracey Columbo had three hits with three runs scored for visiting Villa Park (10-10-1). Jenny Boroughs (2-2) pitched five innings of shutout relief for the victory.
In Orange League tennis:
Valencia 15, Savanna 3--Evans Hargous swept, 6-4, 6-1, 6-0, for Valencia (14-4, 8-0), which also swept doubles. Host Savanna is 3-13 and 2-6.
