Apology to Gays Was Just Self-Serving

Jeff LeTourneau of the Orange County Visibility League does not speak for anyone but himself when accepting the flimsy excuses of Cypress Mayor Pro Tem Richard Partin (“Partin Apologizes for Remark on Gays,” April 17).
When a person makes statements as hateful as Partin has, they mean them. No amount of crocodile tears can hide the fact that a sizable part of his constituency has been hurt and is clearly not represented through his “leadership.” Partin’s apology is self-serving; he doesn’t want to lose his job. Form letters don’t fool anybody.
Partin must step down.
