A Camarillo woman who is working to help Romanian children will be honored by the Buenaventura chapter of Childhelp USA, a nationwide organization that works to prevent child abuse.
Lois Bass organized and operates a rescue mission that brings Romanian orphans to the United States, said Karen Corcoran, spokeswoman for the county Childhelp USA organization.
Bass will receive her award at the group’s annual benefit dinner dance Saturday at the Hyatt Westlake Plaza in Westlake Village.
The event, which usually raises about $40,000 for the organization, will feature western comedian Pat Buttram and pop singer Katharine Kramer, as well as a silent auction, Corcoran said. It is open to the public, and ticket information may be obtained by calling (805) 498-6371.
The Buenaventura chapter was formed in 1980 and has 75 members.
