Firefighters quickly brought under control a fire Monday morning that caused $55,000 in damage to an apartment building but caused no injuries, county fire officials said.
The fire broke out in a second-floor unit at the six-unit, two-story apartment complex at 185 Murray St. shortly before 8 a.m., said Maria Sabol, spokeswoman for the Orange County Fire Department. It took firefighters about five minutes to contain the blaze.
The tenants of the apartment--Son Nguyen, his wife, Huong, and their daughter--were unharmed, fire officials said. Other units in the building suffered only minor smoke damage, Sabol said.
The fire “apparently started near some electrical equipment, maybe the entertainment center,” Sabol said. An investigation is continuing.
