Patrick Henry wasn’t expected to give three-time county champion San Dieguito much of a contest, but the upstart Patriots (8-6) came within an eyelash of the biggest victory in school history Tuesday in the opening round of the San Diego Section 3-A volleyball tournament.
The fourth-seeded Mustangs (11-2) advanced with a 15-7, 15-10, 11-15, 12-15, 15-10 victory, but only after a questionable net violation call gave them the service with Patrick Henry leading in the fifth game.
