Leo R. Breitman, was appointed president of Fleet Norstar Financial Group’s Massachusetts bank, encompassing New Bank of New England and Fleet Bank of Boston.
Before the appointment, Breitman, 50, served as vice chairman of Bank of New England Corp., which is being acquired by Providence, R.I.-based Fleet Norstar after having been taken over by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. The government and Fleet are negotiating final terms.
Fleet is operating the New Bank of New England under an interim agreement with the FDIC.
Breitman also will oversee the former Fleet Bank of Boston, which will be folded into Fleet’s new Massachusetts bank.
