In other second-round 5-A games:
Baldwin Park 12, Crescenta Valley 7--Host Crescenta Valley committed seven errors at Stengel Field. Ernie Diaz homered and doubled and Andy Saltsman doubled for Crescenta Valley (14-10).
Long Beach Jordan 3, Channel Islands 2 (eight innings)--Visiting Long Beach Jordan scored a run in the eighth to break a 2-2 tie. Channel Islands had baserunners at first and second with two out in the bottom of the inning but could not score.
Angel Aragon (10-2) went the distance and struck out eight for Channel Islands (16-6). Jacob Cruz doubled for the Raiders.
Lakewood 5, Thousand Oaks 4 (eight innings)--Host Lakewood scored an unearned run in the eighth to eliminate Thousand Oaks (18-7-1).
Jim Chergey and David Skeels each had two hits for the Lancers.
4-A DIVISION
Paramount 4, Hueneme 2--Paramount scored the winning run in the third on two consecutive walks and a pair of wild pitches.
Mike Ortega had a two-run triple for visiting Hueneme (18-8).
3-A DIVISION
Antelope Valley 7, La Quinta 6--Todd Barnes singled in Jeff Whiteford with one out in the seventh inning as host Antelope Valley won its sixth in a row.
Whiteford tripled with one out and Barnes (two for four, three RBIs) followed with the single. George Boykins was two for four, scored twice and drove in a run for Antelope Valley (15-9). Teammate Peter Holt was two for three.
Saugus 8, Santiago 3--Jason Bates hit a two-run home run to put visiting Saugus (15-9) ahead, 4-2, in the sixth inning. Bobby Cowan (4-1) struck out six and walked three in five innings.
2-A DIVISION
Fillmore 6, Pomona 2--Anthony Chessani (8-1) threw a five-hitter and had two doubles for host Fillmore. Pokey Sanchez and Jon Alvarado each had two hits for Fillmore (17-3-1).
1-A DIVISION
Montclair Prep 13, Buckley 1--Dylan Jones had two hits, two RBIs and scored three runs to lead Montclair Prep (18-3). Andy Shaw went three for three and J. T. Billingslea had two hits and three runs.
Faith Baptist 12, Whitney 9--Faith Baptist reliever David Tibor entered the game with the bases loaded and none out in the fifth and host Faith Baptist ahead, 12-9, and recorded a strikeout and double play to end the inning.
SMALL SCHOOLS DIVISION
Providence 14, Hamilton 1--Rick Mena (6-1) gave up six hits in five innings, struck out seven and walked one for Providence.
Brett Ferrante was three for five with two RBIs.
