Satellite Launch: McDonnell Douglas Space Systems Co. said Tuesday that it will launch a communications satellite into orbit aboard a Delta II rocket from Cape Canaveral, Fla., next Wednesday. The Aurora satellite is McDonnell Douglas’ 10th commercial rocket launch and the company’s last scheduled commercial launch this year. The satellite will provide telecommunications service for customers of GE Americom Inc. in Princeton, N.J., and Alascom Inc. in Anchorage, Alaska. McDonnell Douglas officials say commercial rocket launch contracts each generate about $50 million in revenue.
