Temple City : Council OKs Larger Home
The City Council on Tuesday granted the first exception to its ordinance limiting home sizes by giving a homeowner permission to build a house 40% larger than would normally be allowed.
After testimony from residents who generally favored the proposed house, the council voted 3 to 1 in favor of overruling the Planning Commission and granting the exemption. Councilman Patrick Froehle opposed and Councilman Thomas Breazeal was absent.
The vote gives homeowner Das Sheenh permission to build a 2,954-square-foot house on a 6,000-square-foot lot at 5606 Golden West Ave. The home would have a floor-area ratio of 49% instead of the usual limit of 35%.
