Queen Elizabeth

Particularly during these times of budget crises and deficits it is distressing to see taxpayers’ money spent to roll out the red carpet for Queen Elizabeth II in Washington. The queen is a symbol of the idea that one human being can be superior to all others merely by birth; in other words, she represents the antithesis of every principle upon which this society is founded.
If conservatives want to spend tax dollars on (White House Chief of Staff John) Sununu’s ski trips, Neil Bush’s S&L; cronies and militarism, that only sets us back 30-40 years. However, the glorification of a monarch is (and should remain) hundreds of years in our past.
