World IN BRIEF : TUNISIA : Hundreds Reported Seized in Coup Plot

At least 300 people, including 100 soldiers, have been arrested and accused of taking part in a fundamentalist Islamic plot to overthrow President Zine Abidine ben Ali, the government said. Interior Minister Abdallah Kallel said the outlawed fundamentalist group An Nahda had hoped to install an Islamic state. An Nahda has been the target of a renewed government crackdown in recent months.
