‘Rockin’ Jazz’: Mayor Bradley will host the debut performances of jazz musician Horace Silver’s new musical fantasy, “Rockin’ With Rachmaninoff,” June 7-8 at the Gallery Theatre in Barnsdall Art Park. Silver says the jazz work is his dream of what would happen if Duke Ellington introduced classical music composer Sergei Rachmaninoff to Coleman Hawkins, Thelonious Monk, Louis Armstrong, Muddy Waters and Mahalia Jackson. Donald McKayle is the director-choreographer. The performances will benefit the Challengers Boys and Girls Club of South-Central Los Angeles.
