Disney Channel’s John Cooke Changes Jobs: Cooke, president of the cable channel since 1985, is being promoted to executive vice president for corporate affairs for parent Walt Disney Co. He will assume some duties formerly handled by the late Frank G. Wells, president of Disney, including some government relations work, environmental issues and dealing with major corporations. Cooke will also continue to serve as Disney’s point man on its planned venture with regional phone companies Ameritech Corp., SBC Communication Corp. and BellSouth Corp., serving on the venture’s management and operating boards. He will continue as president of the TV channel until a successor is named.
