PANORAMA CITY — A firefighter suffered minor burns Tuesday while battling a blaze at a shopping center that caused $1 million in damage, authorities said.
The fire began about 4:15 p.m. in the attic of Family Medical Dentistry in the 14500 block of Nordhoff Street and spread to a Sizzler restaurant and Lauren Shoes shop in the same building, according to Jim Wells of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The firefighter suffered minor burns to her nose, the back of her head and neck, Wells said. The firefighter, whose name was not made public, was treated and released at Sherman Oaks Hospital and Health Center, a spokeswoman said.
About 80 firefighters extinguished the fire in the single-story structure in 45 minutes, Wells said.
The cause of the fire was under investigation, Wells said.
