THE O.J. SIMPSON MURDER TRIAL : Bomb Scare Clears Area by Downtown Courthouse
- Share via
A bomb scare Tuesday afternoon prompted police officers to clear an area outside the Downtown Criminal Courts Building, where the murder trial of O.J. Simpson is under way.
Officers spotted a pipe wrapped on both ends that looked “suspiciously like a pipe bomb” in a newspaper rack at the southeast corner of Temple Street and Broadway, Officer Arthur Holmes said.
But the pipe contained no explosives, Holmes said, “only water and mud.”
The suspicious pipe was spotted at 2:25 p.m., and bomb squad officers detonated it about 4 p.m., Holmes said.
