For the fourth consecutive week, “Legends of the Fall” topped the weekly box-office chart, pulling in $5.1 million and giving TriStar Pictures a much-needed morale boost. Jeffrey Blake, president of Sony Pictures Releasing, said the movie, which stars Brad Pitt, Aiden Quinn and Anthony Hopkins, held up for two reasons: First, Pitt is a big draw among women and, second, the movie is playing particularly well in the midsection of the country.
“Boys on the Side,” a Warner Bros. film about the relationships among three women traveling across the country, opened to $4.8 million, while Touchstone Pictures’ “The Jerky Boys” came in third, grossing $4.4 million in its debut weekend.
