One man was killed and two other drivers were injured Tuesday in an accident involving a delivery truck, two passenger cars and a pickup during the lunch hour on Nordhoff Street, authorities said.
A Mayflower delivery truck was traveling west on Nordhoff just past Louise Avenue about 12:30 p.m. when a car swerved out of control for unknown reasons and hit it on the right side, Los Angeles Police Detective Pat Ramsey said.
The truck skidded into eastbound traffic, crushing a passenger car and killing its driver, whose name was not released, Ramsey said. It then hit a pickup truck in the far right lane and jumped the curb, coming to a rest wedged between two trees, Ramsey said.
The truck driver and driver of the pickup were taken to Northridge Hospital Medical Center with serious injuries, Fire Department spokesman Jim Wells said.
