ROSEMEAD : County Withdraws Youth Center Grant
- Share via
A $700,000 county grant that was to go toward construction of a youth center in Rosemead has been withdrawn because of major last-minute changes in the grant application.
Officials with the Asian Youth Center had first hoped to use part of the Arlene Bitely School site in Rosemead to build the facility, which would be used for after-school activities for young children and teen-agers.
But when the Garvey School District Board of Education voted in October against using the school site, youth center planners were forced to look elsewhere.
Another site was selected in Alhambra. But county officials said the new location was a major alteration to the original grant application and the grant money was withdrawn.
