Traffic Banned From Road to Campground
The National Park Service has closed the road leading to the Happy Hollow Campground in the Santa Monica Mountains because of heavy erosion from the recent storms.
The road, which is now impassable to cars, will remain closed indefinitely, although the campground may be used by hikers during the day.
Visitors may park in a lot adjacent to the small house at Circle X Ranch off Yerba Buena Road. The hike between the lot and the grotto at the campground is 1.2 miles each way with an elevation gain of 400 feet.
For more information, hikers can call (818) 597-9192.
