Two Simi Valley youths have claimed top honors in a Presidents’ Day essay contest sponsored by the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation.
Judy Quick, a senior at Simi Valley High School, won a $100 award for her 500-word essay on the President she admired most.
Judy picked Franklin D. Roosevelt for “his strength, confidence, courage and determination.”
Sequoia Junior High School student Andrea Galvin also won $100 for her poem on the topic, “If I lived in the White House.”
Both prizes were sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Simi Valley.
The students, along with second- and third-place finishers, will be recognized for their work Monday during Presidents’ Day events at the Reagan library.
