SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO : Volunteers Needed for Trail-Building

With the recent spate of storms tearing up parks throughout the county, a private, nonprofit land conservancy is asking volunteers to lend a shovel to help build trails today.
Tools and training will be provided by the Rancho Mission Viejo Land Conservancy, which runs a 1,200-acre wilderness preserve about five miles east of San Juan Capistrano.
Volunteers will meet at Cristianitos Road and Ortega Highway at 8:30 a.m. and work until 1 p.m. Workers should bring lunch and water.
The conservancy runs tours of the wilderness park several times a month.
The program includes nature walks and equestrian rides. Special outings for private groups and schools can also be arranged.
Each month, the group also has an astronomy night.
