COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Irvine Ties School Record With Victory Over Nevada

The UC Irvine women’s basketball team tied a school record for the most conference victories (10) by beating Nevada, 61-60, Friday night. The previous record was set during the 1986-87 season. The Anteaters are 13-8, 10-4.
Trailing at halftime, 30-29, the Anteaters went ahead with 27 seconds remaining to hold on for the victory. Allah-mi Basheer had 20 points and nine rebounds for the Anteaters. Leticia Oseguera scored 10 points and Tamera Thomas also added 10. Nevada is 6-15, 3-10.
In nonconference baseball:
Fresno State 6, Cal State Fullerton 3--The Titans had 11 hits to Fresno State’s six, but stranded 12 runners. Mark Kotsay, Tony Miranda, Jeremy Giambi and C.J. Ankrum each had two hits for Fullerton (8-2). Jon Ward (1-1) pitched five innings and gave up six runs, three earned.
San Francisco State 7, Southern California College 4--Ila Borders (0-2) gave up 13 hits and seven earned runs in six innings for visiting Southern California College (3-5). Ryan Seidel drove in two runs and Matt Newton had two hits in three at-bats for SCC.
In nonconference softball:
Cal State Dominguez Hills 2-6, Concordia 1-1--Lisa Lefebvre (4-4) gave up only two hits in the first game, but visiting Dominguez Hills scored a run in the 10th inning to win it.
In the National Christian College Athletic Assn. Pacific Regional:
Pacific Christian 114, American Indian 91--Charles Ross scored 27 points and had 13 rebounds for Pacific Christian in the first round. Chuck Henderson added 20 points for Pacific Christian (25-10).
Brady Rivers had 35 points and 10 rebounds for American Indian. Teammate Mike Levaro scored 27 points.
Pacific Christian plays San Jose Christian in the championship game at 3:30 p.m. today at Rosary High School.
