Support Voiced for Ruling on Prop. 187

A Times story describes a court order setting a deadline of Jan. 30 for state officials to distribute copies of the preliminary injunction against Proposition 187 to school districts, police agencies, publicly funded health care facilities and government health and welfare offices across California. The order also required that information bulletins be posted at all publicly funded health care, social service and educational facilities by Feb. 13.
I totally support the ruling made by U.S. District Judge Mariana R. Pfaelzer, although it must have been a difficult decision. It is a fair order, and people in the immigrant communities should be advised of the injunction so there is no further confusion among the people.
Speaking for many in the Latino community, children’s rights, and women’s issues, I sincerely hope that all of those in powerful positions help the voiceless and would support any type of action to avoid the implementation of Proposition 187.
The Constitution of the United States protects us from unfair and unjust actions. I am sure that in the end truth and justice will prevail.
