The Kings on Saturday traded center-left wing Pat Conacher to the Calgary Flames in exchange for right wing Craig Ferguson.
Conacher, 36, joins the 12th team of his 16-year pro career. He was in his fourth season with the Kings and was the team’s oldest player.
“I’m ecstatic about going to Calgary,” Conacher said. “I was not going to play here. If I would have stayed here, my career would have been over.”
Ferguson, 25, has been playing for St. John in the American Hockey League. In 16 games, he had five goals, 10 assists and six penalty minutes.
Ferguson has appeared in 18 NHL games this season. He had one goal and two penalty minutes in 10 games with Montreal and no points and four penalty minutes in eight games with Calgary.
The 5-foot-11, 190-pounder will report to the Kings’ Phoenix affiliate.
