The number of marriages performed on Valentine’s Day at the county clerk’s office in Santa Ana set a record for a single day. Eighty-six couples paid $35 each for the license and $15 for the ceremony.
County Clerk Gary L. Granville said the second most popular day for marriages is New Year’s Eve. By tying the knot then, newlyweds can file a joint tax return.
