Bruce Eien, an assistant at Brethren Christian High the last six seasons, has been selected as the school’s football coach, it was announced Tuesday.
Eien graduated from Brethren Christian in 1983. Eien, who was the offensive coordinator last fall, also has worked with the school’s junior varsity team. He has a degree in speech communications from Long Beach State.

Ollie Martin, who has coached Ocean View girls’ basketball teams to five league titles and a 182-85 record the last 10 seasons, said he is leaving the program for a year.
Martin has been reassigned to Los Angeles for a year-long management assignment with the Gas Company, his employer the last 23 years. He will reevaluate his situation at the end of that period.
The hiatus will begin after his team’s participation in the Southern Section Division II-A playoffs; the Seahawks (19-7) are the second-seeded team.
He will be replaced by his assistant the last five years, Billy Seibert, who coached the junior varsity team to consecutive league titles.
