The landmark water tower bearing the city’s “Education First” logo soon will also call attention to arts, culture and technology.
The City Council voted 5 to 2 this week to add a logo reading “Arts and Culture” to the French Street water tower, at an estimated cost of $38,000.
In the same motion, the council voted to rent tower space to Pacific Bell Mobile Services, which will install six rectangular antennas for cellular phone transmission in about a month, said water resources manager Lee Harry.
Pacific Bell will rent the tower space for $1,000 a month for at least five years, and the city plans to use that money to pay for the logo addition.
