Nation IN BRIEF : FLORIDA : 17-Year-Old Charged in Tourist’s Death

Police charged a 17-year-old fugitive from a juvenile detention center with fatally shooting a Canadian student as the victim spoke to his mother from a telephone booth in Daytona Beach, authorities said. They said four witnesses identified John Rainey of Umatilla as the gunman who shot Mark Fyke on March 15 in a botched robbery attempt. Rainey was transferred from a youth facility to the Volusia County jail after murder and attempted robbery charges were filed.
