Most groups who try to defy the pop impulse lunge for the loud and clangorous route. This Los Angeles trio shuffles in the opposite direction, spinning a stream of glimmering music that’s far too mellow for catchy hooks or compelling rhythms. The songs drift, pulse and hover at a glacial pace, only occasionally coalescing into actual melodies and grooves. Provocatively innocuous.
