NUNSENSE

I was most amused by Dave Robbins’ quest for subtle spirituality in a film score (“Dead Man Walking”) that depicts Catholicism, yet Robbins chose the Sufi mysticism of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, as the chants of Nusrat “weren’t overt, in the sense of being like a Catholic nun’s music” (“Eddie Vedder’s Soul Mate,” by Don Heckman, March 31).
I host KUCR-FM’s “Cross Reaction” each Saturday morning, which features music utilized within current Catholic liturgical practice. With a collection of over 500 CDs and 700 tapes, I can hardly define any of the music as “Catholic nun’s.”
