Television--NBC has launched a second channel in Asia, a 24-hour entertainment and news service in English. NBC, the most aggressive of the networks in launching new TV channels, launched CNBC in Asia in June. The network has announced plans to start an all-news cable network with Microsoft this year and has hinted that it would also like an entertainment channel. NBC said the new Asian channel will carry the first live, locally produced news program in English as well as a magazine news show. The channel will also air programming from its U.S. TV network and the NBC SuperChannel of Europe. NBC said it was trying to target an “elusive” demographic group: well-informed and internationally minded TV viewers from across Asia.
