Central Los Angeles : $17 Million in Cocaine Seized by Deputies; Man Arrested

Nearly 1,000 pounds of cocaine with an estimated street value of $17 million was discovered in a house in the 800 block of East Imperial Highway in Watts by sheriff’s deputies acting on a tip from a confidential source, authorities said Tuesday.
The Monday night raid was the largest cocaine seizure this year by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Sgt. Raul Perez said.
One suspect, Edward Hernandez, 25, was arrested in the raid and was charged with possession of cocaine for sale, officials said. He was being held in lieu of $5 million bail. Police said they did not know if Hernandez was a resident of the house.
