Tyson Working to End Ban in Singapore: The chicken producer said it is talking with authorities in Singapore to end that country’s ban on the company’s imports. Singapore’s Primary Production Department imposed a ban that took effect March 16 on Tyson chickens after several of the firm’s shipments were found to be spoiled. Bentonville, Ark.-based Tyson Foods Inc. concedes that two recent isolated shipments of chicken arrived in Singapore spoiled because the ships’ refrigeration systems weren’t working properly. However, the company emphasized that the chicken was not contaminated by disease, just spoiled because of higher-than-normal storage temperatures. The Singapore agency said Tyson’s chicken sales could resume once the U.S. Department of Agriculture ensured that no more spoiled chicken would be shipped.
