‘Picket Fences’ Mourned
It deeply saddens me to see the finely honed, wonderfully crafted television series “Picket Fences” bite the dust (“CBS Closes the Gate on ‘Fences,’ ” April 24).
It seems as if all the intelligent, worthwhile television viewing is being canceled because people don’t want to have to think when they watch TV. They only want to be amused and entertained. What a shame. “Picket Fences” had so much in it, so much life, the characters were wonderful, there was humor, there was starch, there was that wonderful judge and that feisty lawyer, and I just loved the kids. Oh well, another reason not to watch television. I guess I will have to get another good book.
