Robert P. Sutton; Former General Manager of KNX Radio

Robert P. Sutton, 87, former general manager of radio station KNX and an executive of CBS Radio. Born in Ogden, Utah, Sutton started out as a vaudeville writer, and later wrote for radio comedy shows. After serving in the Navy during World War II, he worked in Minneapolis radio before becoming program director at KNX in 1953. Eight years later, Sutton was named station general manager and CBS vice president. He was instrumental in developing “information broadcasting.” After his retirement in 1968, Sutton turned to sculpting. He also built a yacht, the Mona Mona, and cruised the world on it. On April 18 in Laguna Niguel.
