An out-of-control pickup truck smashed into a business Wednesday after critically injuring three toddlers and a teenager on a sidewalk.
The victims were two 1-year-old girls, a 2-year-old and a 14-year-old girl, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Jim Wells. A woman, 19, suffered moderate injuries, he said.
The injured were taken to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance and Martin Luther King Jr./Drew Medical Center. The driver of the truck reportedly did not suffer serious injuries.
The accident occurred about 6 p.m. in the 5800 block of South Figueroa Street, Wells said.
The gray truck ended up in the middle of a business called “Amelia Watermelons.”
Witnesses said passersby were able to raise the truck and get the children out from under the vehicle.
