Judge Sets Trial Date in Gottlieb Case

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — A judge Wednesday set a Nov. 21 trial date for former Notre Dame basketball player Doug Gottlieb, accused of using credit cards of fellow students to buy nearly $1,000 worth of merchandise.
St. Joseph County Superior Court Judge William Albright entered an innocent plea for Gottlieb to a charge of felony theft. The 20-year-old from Tustin is free on $500 bond.
Gottlieb sat quietly in court with his father, Bob, until his case was called. He answered Albright’s questions in a low voice, and said nothing as he left the courthouse.
His attorney, Bill Stanley, refused comment and said he had advised Gottlieb not to discuss the case.
