Magnitude 3.2 Quake Jolts O.C. Coast

A magnitude 3.2 earthquake struck Wednesday morning off the Orange County coast, and aftershocks from two moderate quakes continued in the desert north of Ridgecrest and on the California-Nevada border southeast of Lake Tahoe.
The quake off Orange County occurred at 9:29 a.m. and was centered in the Pacific 18 miles south of Newport Beach, Caltech seismologists reported.
The strongest quake reported by the U.S. Geological Survey on Christmas Day was a 3.3 in the border region 30 miles from Lake Tahoe, where a magnitude 4.7 was recorded this month.
Meanwhile, a magnitude 3.0 quake and three smaller temblors Wednesday were the latest of more than 1,300 aftershocks that have followed the 5.3 quake that struck the Inyo County desert about 30 miles north of Ridgecrest on Nov. 27.
No damage resulted from any of the latest jolts.
