CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. — State police stood guard Wednesday at the hospital room of a 10-year-old girl severely injured when a package bomb blew up in her face on Christmas Eve.
Police refused to speculate about the bomber’s motive, but they concluded from what was left of the package that it was intended for the home of Jude and Mary Reardon, a state police spokesman said.
Jordan Reardon suffered second-degree burns and cuts when she opened the package about 10 p.m. Tuesday, authorities said, and her family’s home was badly damaged.
The girl was listed in good condition at Westchester Medical Center.
She was expected to remain in the burn unit for 10 days and undergo minor plastic surgery, hospital administrator Jon Mackler said.
