Convict Charged With 1985 Murder of Ex-Wife

Los Angeles police said Saturday that they have used DNA evidence to charge a man already in prison with the murder of his ex-wife in May 1985.
Authorities allege that Eddie Habbary killed Johnnie May Richardson, 42, in her Los Angeles apartment. Habbary, 47, is currently serving a 25-year-to-life sentence for a 1997 attempted murder.
A Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman said that a review of the case, using DNA analysis that was unavailable in 1985, led them to Habbary.
